ARA Almirante Irízar Returns from Antarctica

The icebreaker ARA Almirante Irízar returned to Buenos Aires Naval Base on Tuesday after completing its participation in the Antarctic Summer Campaign (CAV) 2025-2026, during which it fulfilled various objectives, with a highlight being support for scientific activity. This is the 122nd campaign, coinciding with the years of Argentina's permanent and uninterrupted presence on the white continent. Upon its arrival, the vessel was received by a delegation led by the Joint Antarctic Commander, Rear Admiral Maximiliano Mangiaterra. Over three stages, spanning more than four months, the vessel operated in the Antarctic region, carrying out transport tasks, scientific support, and inter-base logistics. Additionally, it participated in the opening of temporary bases, operational only during the summer period. At the Joint Antarctic Base Petrel, the second phase of its development plan was advanced.
